June 3: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday stayed the proceedings of the lower court against Rahul G. Patil, nephew of President Pratibha Patil, in a case of dowry harassment till July 8. Justice B. Sreenivase Gowda, who heard the plea by Mr Patil to quash summons issued by the lower court, posted the case for hearing on July 7.

A compliant lodged by Prachi Singh Patil against her husband Rahul Patil states that before their wedding, Rahul’s mother had demanded a Honda City car, which was turned down by her mother. Prachi had filed cases of cruelty and harassment for dowry at Byappanahalli police station along with a case under the domestic violence Act with the metropolitan magistrate court in Mayo Hall.

Rahul had approached the high court to nullify the proceedings of the metropolitan magistrate court.
