Viveka’s boyfriend Gautam prepares for legal battle

27 Jun, 2010

Model Viveka Babajee, who shot to fame with the Kamasutra condom advertisement in the 1990s, committed suicide in her Mumbai flat on Friday night. Though she didn’t leave a suicide note, the line - ‘You killed me Gautam Vohra!’ – was found written in her personal diary.

Since then, the police and media have been on the lookout for Gautam Vohra. As per reports, Babajee (37) and Vohra (32), who is a stock broker by profession, have been dating since the past one month.

And while the boyfriend remains untraceable, we get in touch with some of his friends in a bid to dig out the real affair. Talking exclusively to Indiatimes Movies, one of Gautam’s very close friends revealed, “Gautam is innocent for sure. In one or two months of friendship no one can take a drastic step like this.” As we raised an eyebrow on the usage of ‘friendship’ in the statement the friend repeated, “Viveka and Gautam were very good friends. Gautam will take proper legal advice and approach police to avoid unnecessary harassment.”

Another friend, on condition of anonymity, reaffirmed that the relationship between the two didn’t go beyond good friends as yet. “Gautam is a party animal. He’s a very chilled out guy who loves enjoying life. He loves making friends and Viveka was one such dear friend. They were getting to know each other better. But Gautam is not someone who will commit after a one month old relationship. He was in love for sure but hadn’t got into a commitment,” he said.

Gautam and his family have been into the stock broking business since some years now and are very well do to. Friends, therefore, are negative on the possibility that their young friend was trying to gain mileage by being linked up with the popular face in the modeling industry.

A close family friend revealed that the entire family is shocked and upset by the way Gautam’s name is being associated to the suicide. The friend said, “I know Gautam since more than 25 years. I spoke to his family. All that they want to know is how can a boy be responsible for a girl’s suicide legally?”

Interacting with his friends made one thing very clear. Gautam is not someone who is going to take this lying low. His friends assured that though he is not available to the media right now, he is preparing to come clear out of the mess through legal measures. Now, only time will tell what new twist this story takes.
