Rajahmundry, Dec. 5: The Bommuru police, under the Rajahmundry Urban police, rescued a married woman who was locked up in her house on Sunday.
According to police sources, the woman, Ms U. Venkata Ramana, was married to ONGC employee, U. Lakshmana Rao, about two and a half decades ago. The couple has two children.
About 13 years ago, while working at Narasapuram in West Godavari, Lakshmana Rao developed intimacy with a woman, Tulasi alias Avani, who used to visit Rao’s house to give tuitions to his children.
He continued the relationship and brought the woman back to Rajahmundry and was living with both his wife and Tulasi in the same house at Bommuru. Recently, both Rao and Tulasi started harassing Ms Venkata Ramana when the children were away from home. In the last 10 days, the two had kept Ms Venkata Ramana confined in the house by locking the door from outside whenever they left home.
Unable to bear the harassment, Ms Venakata Ramana informed her daughter about the treatment being meted out to her. Her daughter, Ms Anusha, who is doing her PhD at Hyderabad immediately rushed to Rajahmundry on Sunday and found the house locked from outside with her mother inside. She alerted the Bommuru police who broke open the lock and rescued Ms Venkata Ramana. Rao and Tulasi are still at large.
