sif:why-victims-cant-win

Imagine the time when Indians were fighting British in freedom movement. We could probably classify the people's attitudes to these:
  • Indifferent: Whether British are here, or go out; whatever be the current situation I will change my behaviour accordingly.
  • Servant/Slavish: They are paying our salaries (or whatever else), so we have to follow them. There is no point (or it is treason) in opposing their rule.
  • Freedom fighters: They have to go out because their rule is unjust.
Needless to say, people who are slavish mentality cannot make good freedom fighters. If you are one, you can't be other.
Slavish mentality is a symptom of 2 possible things, one or both may exist:
  1. living in limitations of the past circumstances or events
  2. looking towards sympathy and help based on one's self-declared slave or servant status
Similarly, people who call themselves victims cannot make good SIF fighters.
It is symptom of 2 possible things, one or both may exist:
  1. living in limitations of the past circumstances or events
  2. looking towards sympathy and help based on one's self-declared victim status
In a larger understanding, even today's society will have following classification of people when it comes to IPC 498a, DV, men rights, men's suicides and so on:
  • Indifferent: Whether laws are misused, judiciary is corrupt, others are suffering; they will change their behaviour according to the current situation (surviving like a rat in a sewer). But they will never try to better the situation.
  • Servant/Slavish/Pimps: Feminists and DV industry brigade. They only see money in all this. It also includes many men who are passive acceptors of the status quo and refuse to acknowledge their 'beast of burden' status – without any support and respect from society – as exploitation or victimization. They call it manliness, or working hard for family, society, our tradition, whatever.
  • Freedom fighters/Activists/SIF commandos: The people who work against all kinds of injustice. Now if you are in one of above categories, you can't be in this category… Right?
